Saturday, 8 May 2010 - Typical Julia

On Saturday morning, me and some of my friends went to the one and only 'Las Americas Outlet Center' located in the San Diego neighborhood of San Ysidro close to the Mexican border.

We took the #30 bus to Old Town and there we waited for Marvin and Julia because they've missed the bus (as usual). When they finally arrived, we took the trolley to San Ysidro. Unfortunately, the trolley ride seemed to be never ending. It took us about two full hours.

However, once we arrived, we were totally excited and couldn't wait to start our shopping tour. 'Las Americas' is somehow a magic place, a true Shangri-La for shopping due to the fact that it is a so called outleg center. Therefore, everything is much cheaper than in most other shops.

The first shop was a huge mess but if you search and dig in a little bit you could find bodacious and groovy things. I bought a jacket, jeans and a colorful t-shirt for only a little money.

After two hours of intense shopping and cruising the mall, Kim, Julia and I found a shop called UGG. It looked totally tempting and we simply couldn't resist. So we went in. It felt like heaven. Shoes, shoes and even more shoes. All of them seemed to have our names on... Julia and I tried on a few pairs and after a short while we decided to buy them. It felt so good.

As Julia tried to pay her shoes, the cash register wouldn't accept her credit card. So she had to go to the AMT. Meanwhile, Kim and I waited for her in the shop. When she came back she told us that the AMT didn't work. It was actually not the machine which didn't work, it was Julia who wasn't able understand the instruction, so I went with her and offered to help. But alas, we both had the same issue. After a few unsuccessful attempts we asked a man for help. Like most Americans, he was very friendly and finally Julia got her money. We were really grateful and of course didn't forget to thank the man. Without any delay we rushed back to the shop.

On the way back to the shop, Julia wanted to throw some paper in a rubbish bin. Unfortunately, she was a little bit careless and while she was looking down she bumped into a pillar and badly banged her head against it. Instantly the blood was running down her face. It looked horribly and I was shocked. I tried to keep my hair on but I started to panic anyway. I ran into the shop and shouted for help.

The shop assistant immediately came out and tried to help poor Julia. All the people around her felt so sorry for the poor bugger. An ambulance was called and the paramedics were here in no time. They stopped the bleading and looked well after her. But we all had quite a problem because it was hard for us to communicate with the paramedics. It was somehow impossible for us to understand all the technical terms that they were using.

Fortunately, my mother was not too far away. I called her to help to communicate with the paramedics. Some minutes later she arrived and talked to them. Then she called Mr. Hediger, just to make sure that everything was done the right way. Mr. Hediger contacted the paramedics and they agreed on bringing Julia home to her hostfamily.

Ends after all Julia had a big bump on her head and we were all happy that her injury turned out to be not as bad as it first looked.

That evening my mother and my little brother were invited to our hostfamily for dinner. Luckily, we had a quite evening and I was exhausted about all the excitement.
